RCD Typ B vs. Typ A

According to the technical specification the Teltocharge has included a Built-in RCD (30mA AC / 6mA DC; Standard: IEC62752:2016).

Why there is the need to install a RCD Type B in addition? A RCD Type A would be much more cost-efficient…

Good day,

Most likely the case would be with the IEC 61851-1 standard which refers to the RDC-DD protection design as described in IEC 62955. While there are various options to achieve current leakage protection, communication about extra protective device requirements are limited by international standards.

Thanks for your fast reply. I’m not familiar with all the guidelines and therefore do not really understand your comment.
Anyway, most wallboxes do not require a RDC Type B. Is there a good technical reason or do you ask for type B “just” to be compliant witht a specific guideline?

Additionaly, I would suggest to refer to the newest datasheet and manuals for information about RCD.

Datasheet

As this particular protection could be created in many ways, main standards allow lowering to RCD Type A only if IEC 62955 design was applied. More or less, you could say it is nitpicking. If you would take a look at the EVC16 Datasheet Energy applied this design and product requires type A.

Looking forward to your success.
