Power setting FMC920 for a motorcycle

Hi All,
I need assistance with GPS Module FMC920 to configure it for a motorcycle.
Pre-factory settings have drained my bike battery in 4 days to 4,4V. Do you may have any tip how to set sleep function and how to setup rest of the confugration to have my bike secured while stored and still be able to find it when stolen.
Battery in my bike is YUASA YTX9-BS 12V 8Ah CCA: 135A

You can set the sleep mode to ultra deep. Then only turning the ignition ON or accelerometer will wake it up.

Check the current draw with an ammeter. These trackers sometimes have strange behavior and draw much more current than the specifications say.
I had 2 cases where removing and inserting the SIM card helped.
I know it’s strange, but it helped.
After that, the current consumption dropped from 5mA to 1.5mA .
Not sure, it may be a software bug or a problem with going into sleep mode…

Hi @moto_perez

Good day, Please visit this wiki page to check on how to enable the sleep mode: FMC920 Sleep modes - Wiki Knowledge Base | Teltonika GPS (teltonika-gps.com)

For motorbikes you can also consider changing the data acquisition settings, please try the settings below:

Also check if what is your movement and ignition source

Wiki page: FMC920 System settings - Wiki Knowledge Base | Teltonika GPS (teltonika-gps.com)

Note: Please check properly if you have set the data movement or the ignition source correctly.

I agree with @0xFF you can try to change the ignition source as movement if you were not able to find the ignition wire of your motorbike.

In any case you need additional help please get in touch with your sales manager or create an HD ticket.

Hi,
First of all thank you @Maynard & @0xFF for your interest and assist. For this topic reference I’m going to place screenshot of current config.

Now I’m going to adjust settings to those that you have provided.

Hi

If you are going to use the DIN 1 make sure that it is connected to the ignition cable of the motorbike.

Hi @Maynard ,

Yes, I’m aware about DIN1 and it’s connected to after ignition 12V.

I have checked all the settings and still can’t get this device in to deep sleep or online deep sleep.

Still, I was able to get it in to mentioned sleep modes only when I disconnect external battery. Very strange. So how to get it in to sleep mode with bellow conditions?

Ignition is OFF
Movement is in Stop Mode
Timeout is set to 5 minutes and still after 5 minutes it’s not going in to sleep mode.

Messages received on ther server → gpslev=0, gsmlev=4, hdop=0, io113=100, io13=437, io15=0, io16=23902000, io175=-1, io199=0, io200=0, io236=0, io239=0, io240=0, io247=0, io250=1, io252=0, io253=0, io254=39, io66=12694, io67=4098, io68=0, io69=2, pdop=0

I have trying to check that maybe IO250 is causing it, but parameters list says TRIP and I can’t find it in I/O list via the configuration software.

For your reference, please acknowledge current settings true screenshots.

Any idea why this happen and what could be wrongly set?

P.S. I’m not re-seller but the end user. Unfortunate I have no support from the seller and have no access to Teletonika support.

Thanks in advanced.

Hi,

Based on your sleep mode settings, the device will go to sleep if no movement and ignition is detected after 5 mins.

I see issue on the first screen in your config:

On stop, Min period is 3600s (1h)
and
Sleep mode Timeout is 1440min (24h)

This means your device never gets sleep

Update sleep timeout to 1min.

Hi,

Yes, thank you  .

Just to be covered, I have also updated my FMC920 to latest FW verion 03.29.00 rev.21 (previously it was 03.29.00 rev.10)

Please see screenshot of current config 2 minutes time out and 10 minutes periodic wake up.

Unfortunately that device type has it’s own time :unamused:, as even this setup seems to be correct, last logs from server says that it went to sleep after 21 minutes and also didn’t waked up after 10 minutes as configured.

Do you all may have any idea where to look further?

P.S. It’s nothing wrong with that specific device that I share screenshots, because I have another 3 same devices which where procured by same seller for my friends. Same issue on those too.

Do you know if there is any Teletonika support channel where I can check directly with them?

If you plan to leave the motorcycle for a longer period of time without charging the battery, I suggest ultra deep sleep mode.
