Are there any recommendations around which magnets to use with the EYE Sensors and how to mount such magnets? ie what sort of distances can we expect to work between the sensor and the magnet, magnets with screw mount holes? Particulalry in regards to using as a door type sensor

Basically, any magnet can be used with the EYE Sensors, but of course, the stronger and bigger the magnet, the better.
Teltonika offers a specific magnet accessory (order code PGEX00003930) that comes with double-sided adhesive tape for use with the EYE Sensor (BTSMP1). This is the standard recommended accessory to detect door opening with EYE device.

Furthermore, the maximum range for magnet detection is 4cm. Please refer to the below image for mounting recommendation:
