Idle Engine Running Monitoring

hi I have a question from one of our customers:

Can the FMB 140 read idle data? (Idle data, as defined by the customer, means monitoring how long a vehicle not moving while the engine is running).

Do you have any suggestions for the installation and settings for the scenario described above?

Hi,

Good day, Thank you for contacting Teltonika Telematics!

Yes, We have an option called Excessive Idling detection in FMB140 device. You need to enable it from Accelerometer features option.

Alright, for the idle feature above, how can I differentiate if this unit is idle with the accessories on but the engine not running from idle with the accessories on and the engine running?

Since for the wiring itself, DIN1 will be connected to the ACC ON cable in the unit, if the engine is not running and only ACC is on, it will be detected as excessive idle.

If the customer wants to monitor idle with ACC ON while the engine is running, do you have any suggestions?

Hi,

Good day, Thank you for contacting Teltonika Telematics!

When you are connecting Digital Input 1 wire with ACC ON wire then device will be detecting Ignition On when Key is turned to ACC ON mode and based on data for Excessive Idling will be calculated.

If you need get actual engine ON/running data using DIN1, you need to connect DIN 1 to dynamo or other source which gets power only when engine is ON.
