FMx Ignition source - feature request

Detecting the engine running hours accurately is sometimes very important. For example, the maintenance of earthmoving equipment is usually specified based on engine operating hours.

Currently there are a number of ignition source options, i.e.:

DIN1 - sometimes very difficult to find a source which is switched on only when the engine is running, but not “key in ACC II position but engine not running”.

Voltage - more accurate, but still susceptible to false positive condition when the vehicle is connected to a battery charger.

Currently the system uses OR logic: any specified input source will cause the ignition to be considered ON.

It would be fantastic if the development team would allow us to select the logic: OR / AND

For example, we would like to use the following logic to determine the ignition source:

  • Voltage > 26,4V
    AND
  • DIN 1 activated

This logic would allow very accurate calculation of engine running hours, avoiding almost all edge cases.

Hello @Stelvio,

Hope you are doing well. You are right, Ignition source was based on OR Logic.

Thank you, Patrick.

I tried contacting the sales team. Unfortunately, the manager for our region - Georgia - was very dismissive of our request. She told me that Teltonika isn’t interested in talking to us , because the technical team is too busy to consider requests from companies that aren’t already integrators. She then advised that all requests from our region a forwarded to her and, basically, that I’m wasting her time.

Previous contact with that sales manager followed a similar tone.

I’ll send the request through the Wialon team. They are very responsive and always happy to hear our suggestions.
