FMM130 traccar setup in 2016 Lexus ES350

Hello, and Happy New Year! :tada:

I’m working on setting up a comprehensive system for my 2016 Lexus ES 350 and need your help to confirm whether I’ve planned this correctly. I’ve emailed support but haven’t received a response, so I’m turning to this forum for guidance.

My Goals

I want to enable the following features for my vehicle:

  • Remote Tracking
  • Telemetry Data (e.g., RPM, fuel level)
  • Immobilizer
  • Remote Start
  • Remote Unlock/Lock of Doors
  • Remote Trunk Opening
  • Pretty much all features possible with my hardware.

Current Hardware

  • FMM130: For GPS tracking and telematics.
  • LV-CAN200: For CAN bus data acquisition and control.
  • Contactless CAN Adapter: To connect non-invasively to the CAN bus.

Concerns After Research

After watching Teltonika’s YouTube videos, I have a few concerns:

  1. CAN-CONTROL: It seems this might have been a better choice than the LV-CAN200, as it offers more advanced control features (e.g., remote door lock/unlock, trunk opening).
  2. Simple-CAN: This seems like a more secure and direct connection than the Contactless CAN Adapter, which could be susceptible to noise or reliability issues in my setup.

I want to avoid making further incorrect purchases and would appreciate some guidance!

Original Plan

Here’s how I initially planned to achieve each feature:

Feature How It’s Achieved Parts Needed
Remote Tracking GPS data sent via SIM to Traccar server. FMM130 + SIM Card
Remote Start Relay simulates ignition activation for HVAC. FMM130 + Relay Module
Immobilizer Relay cuts ignition or fuel pump circuit. FMM130 + Relay Module
Lock/Unlock Doors LV-CAN200 sends lock/unlock commands via CAN bus. FMM130 + LV-CAN200 (or relay)
Telemetry Data LV-CAN200 reads CAN data (RPM, fuel level, etc.). FMM130 + LV-CAN200

Updated Questions

  1. Should I return the LV-CAN200 and switch to CAN-CONTROL for better control features?
  2. Is the Contactless CAN Adapter sufficient, or should I replace it with Simple-CAN for a direct connection to the CAN bus?
  3. Are there any additional components or steps I should consider to enable features like trunk opening or advanced telemetry?

Hi,

Happy new year! please find the details below:

  1. Should I return the LV-CAN200 and switch to CAN-CONTROL for better control features?

It depends on your requirements if you need to implement the control functionality of CAN -CONTROL

  1. Is the Contactless CAN Adapter sufficient, or should I replace it with Simple-CAN for a direct connection to the CAN bus?\

Simple CAN is already EOL; the replacement will be ECAN02. Please note that if you use a contactless reader, some of the CAN parameters will not be available.

ECAN02 - New-Generation CAN Adapter For Contactless Access To CAN Bus Data

  1. Are there any additional components or steps I should consider to enable features like trunk opening or advanced telemetry?

Please check the control parameters of CAN-CONTROL on our list and check if the vehicle supports it or not, if it does not support this feature then you need to contact the support from your region and do the reverse engineering,

Base on the Photo the orange box means if you use contactless reader then the CAN parameter will not be available you should connect it directly to the CAN lines.

If you need additional support please contact your sales or create an HD ticket.
