FMC920 DOUT1 buzzer not working for overspeed

Hi,

I’m currently setting up a Teltonika FMC920 and want to connect an external buzzer to DOUT1.

The goal is to activate the buzzer whenever the vehicle exceeds the configured speed limit.

However, I cannot get the buzzer to work, even when manually activating DOUT1.

Current wiring:

  • One side of the buzzer is connected to DOUT1
  • The other side is connected to the positive terminal / vehicle supply

I did some testing with a multimeter:

When I manually activate DOUT1 through the Maintenance section and measure between DOUT1 and the positive terminal, I get approximately 12V.

However, as soon as I connect the buzzer between DOUT1 and the positive terminal, the voltage immediately drops to 0V and the buzzer does not make any sound.

So DOUT1 appears to switch correctly without a load connected, but the voltage disappears as soon as the buzzer is connected.

Could someone advise what could be causing this?

In particular:

  • Is my wiring correct for the FMC920 DOUT1 output?
  • Could the buzzer be drawing too much current for DOUT1?
  • Does the FMC920 DOUT1 require a specific type of buzzer?
  • Should I use a relay or transistor between DOUT1 and the buzzer?
  • Is there a maximum supported current for DOUT1?
  • Could the voltage dropping from 12V to 0V under load indicate an issue with the DOUT output?

The buzzer is intended to be used as an overspeed warning inside the vehicle.

Any advice on the correct wiring/setup would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi, @Rijnish

You need to add a relay to your project.

This video… will provide a basic ideia about

Buzzer will be connected at relay… FMC to relay… Power to energize buzzer will not be provide by the FMC.
