FMC150 – CAN Adapter not returning Engine RPM / Fuel Level / Door Status on BMW E93 (E90/E91/E92/E93 platform)

Hi everyone,

I’m hoping someone has run into this before or has an idea.

Device: FMC150, firmware 04.01.00 Rev:08, configuration version 13.0.0.0.

Vehicle: BMW 3 Series E93 (Cabriolet), 2009, no Comfort Access / keyless entry.

Wiring: VCC (pin 1) → +12V permanent, GND (pin 7) → chassis ground, CAN1H (pin 12) → OBD2 pin 6, CAN1L (pin 6) → OBD2 pin 14.

CAN profile loaded: “BMW – 3 Series mk5 facelift (E90)”, years 2008–2013 (standard, non-Keyless variant — I checked the LV-CAN200 support list and this matches program 11118 for my car, since it has no Comfort Access).

What works: after an actual drive, “Total Mileage (counted)” and vehicle speed correctly update in the CAN I/O table and reach my Traccar server — so wiring and basic CAN communication are confirmed fine.

What doesn’t work: “Engine RPM”, “Fuel Level” (both % and L×10), and “Door Status” stay permanently at “-” in Current Value, both at rest and while driving.

One extra clue: in the CAN Adapter parameters table, “Module ID 17B” returns a valid identifier, while “Module ID 8B” stays empty — looks like one ECU/module just isn’t responding to this profile’s requests.

Has anyone with an E9x BMW seen the same partial behavior? Is this a known limitation of this OEM CAN file, or is there something on my end (config, wiring, priority settings) I might be missing? I already tried setting these parameters’ Priority to Low with no change in Current Value.

Thanks in advance!

Good Day,

The issue may be related to the CAN wires to which the FMx150 is connected.

Teltonika provides vehicle-specific wiring schematics for models included in the supported vehicle list. Kindly contact your sales manager, who can assist you with creating a Partner Portal ticket so that the correct wiring schematic can be provided.

Thanks, and best regards,
