FMC003 (FW 04.02.00 Rev.602) – EV battery data available in Configurator but not transmitted while vehicle is parked or charging (VW ID.3)

Hello,

I am using a Teltonika FMC003 (Firmware 04.02.00 Rev.602) in a Volkswagen ID.3 (MEB platform).

The tracker successfully reads EV-specific OEM data from the vehicle. While driving, the following parameters are visible and are transmitted correctly to my server (Traccar):

  • OEM Battery Charge Level

  • OEM Remaining Distance

  • OEM Battery Temperature

  • OEM HV Battery Voltage

  • OEM HV Battery Current

  • OEM Total Mileage

  • VIN

Example values:

  • OEM Battery Charge Level: 68%

  • OEM Remaining Distance: 281 km

  • OEM HV Battery Voltage: 372.8 V

  • OEM Battery Temperature: 14°C

However, I am experiencing a problem when the vehicle is stationary.

What I observe

When the vehicle is parked, the FMC003 continues sending AVL records to Traccar, but all EV-related OEM parameters disappear from the transmitted records.

Only basic parameters remain, such as:

  • GPS position

  • Power voltage

  • Internal battery voltage

  • Odometer

The OEM EV parameters are no longer included in the AVL packets.

Important observation

If I connect to the FMC003 with Teltonika Configurator while the vehicle is parked or charging, I can still see all EV values correctly in:

Status → OBD

For example, while the car is standing still and charging, the Configurator shows:

  • OEM Battery Charge Level

  • OEM Remaining Distance

  • OEM HV Battery Voltage

  • OEM HV Battery Current

  • Battery Temperature

The data is clearly being read successfully from the vehicle.

However, these values are not transmitted to Traccar while the vehicle is stationary.

As soon as I start driving again, the OEM EV parameters immediately reappear in the AVL records and are transmitted normally.

Why this is important

My main use case is intelligent charging management.

The most important value for me is the battery State of Charge (SOC). I need the FMC003 to continue reporting battery percentage while the vehicle is charging or parked.

At the moment, the SOC value is only available while driving, which makes it difficult to use for smart charging automation.

Current configuration

  • Device: FMC003

  • Firmware: 04.02.00 Rev.602

  • Vehicle: Volkswagen ID.3

  • Feature Set: EV Charging

  • OBD Feature: OBD (Auto)

  • VIN Source: Auto Detect

  • OBD IO Sending Options: Don’t Send

  • Protocol: Codec 8 Extended

  • Server: Traccar

  • Sleep Mode: GNSS Sleep

  • Timeout: 5 min

  • Periodic Wake-Up: 60 min

Questions

  1. Is this expected behavior on Volkswagen MEB vehicles?

  2. Does the FMC003 stop transmitting OEM EV parameters when the vehicle is stationary even if the data is still available internally?

  3. Should battery SOC and charging-related values be available during AC charging?

  4. Is there a configuration option that allows EV battery data to continue being sent while the vehicle is parked or charging?

  5. Could this be related to Data Acquisition settings or AVL ID configuration?

Thank you for your assistance.

Additional information / Update

I have now changed all relevant settings to prevent the device from entering sleep mode and to keep both Ignition and Motion active at all times.

In Traccar, the device continuously reports:

  • Ignition = Yes

  • Motion = Yes

  • GPS fix available (16 satellites)

  • Regular AVL records are still being received

Screenshot attached for reference.

The issue affects the following vehicles:

  • Volkswagen ID.3

  • Škoda Enyaq

Both vehicles are based on the Volkswagen MEB platform, and the behavior is identical on both.

However, the problem remains exactly the same:

The State of Charge (SoC) and other OBD parameters are transmitted correctly while driving, but as soon as the vehicle stops and remains stationary (or while charging), the SoC value eventually disappears from the AVL records and is no longer sent to Traccar.

What is confusing is that when I connect with Teltonika Configurator, I can still see all OBD values live, including SoC, even while the vehicle is parked or charging. This suggests that the FMC003 is still able to read the OBD data successfully.

The issue seems to be that the OBD values are no longer included in the AVL records once the vehicle is stationary, despite:

  • Ignition = ON

  • Motion = ON

  • No sleep mode intended

  • OBD values visible in Configurator

  • Vehicle connected to a charger

Has anyone experienced this behavior before?

Could there be another setting that controls whether OBD parameters are included in AVL records when the vehicle is stationary?

Could this be related to a specific MEB platform behavior, OBD polling configuration, AVL ID settings, or data acquisition settings?

The most important parameter for me is the battery State of Charge (SoC) because I use it for intelligent charging management in Home Assistant and Traccar. Ideally, I would like the FMC003 to continue sending SoC updates while the vehicle is parked and charging, not only while driving.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!
