FMB920 - slow data acquisition

Hello,
I’m starting up the device after several months of server unavailability.
Regardless of the “Data Acquisition” and “Open Link Timeout” settings, the upload of old saved records to the server is very slow: one data packet in 2-4 minutes
I also tried upgrading the firmware to the latest version - no change
Resetting the configuration and set only basic settings did not help

Any help appreciated

Hello @Ratay

The device should sends data based on the time configured in the Data Acquisition and the set I/O priority settings.

It also depends on the GPRS connectivity of the sim card inserted in the device, as slow network connectivity can cause the device to close the session and restart it. This can make data sending delay,
For this, check the difference in data and server time stamps.

You can cross-check the issue by adding the device to any other third-party server and verifying if the issue is not coming from the server side.

If you have doubt the issue is from device’s configuration then share the screenshot of the Data Acquisition setting, Record setting, and System setting here,
I will check and confirm

Regards
Maryam

Hi Maryam,
I prolonged Open Link Timeout to 120s and now device sends one data packet more regular:

I originally assumed that the Acquisition settings only apply to new records and that old saved records will be sent at the maximum possible speed.

thanx
Ratay

Hello @Ratay

You can disable sleep mode in the device’s configuration during testing.
As this a battery saving mode and has specific conditions to exit and send periodic data when enabled, check the link for details FMC130 Sleep modes - Wiki Knowledge Base | Teltonika GPS

Hi Maryam,
I don’t understand what sleep mode has to do with slow data upload
I still think old saved records should be uploaded much faster

thanks
Ratay

It was just a suggestion for internal testing to disable sleep mode to prevent it from entering ultra deep sleep,
And this is not for delayed data processing.

Hi Maryam,
back to the first question - is there any way to speed up the saved records upload?
One data packet per minute in my case means waiting several weeks to finish process.

thanks
Ratay

Hi @Ratay

Please try to increase the value for the Openlink timeout.

So that the device will keep connected to the server for a longer period.

Best Regards

Hi Maryam,
in server log (btw, standard traccar) I see that device is tcp connected all the time
still only one packet per minute

Hi Maynard,
among other things I tried to do a detailed analysis of the old logs of several devices
and here are my conclusions:

  • the flushing of old records from the buffer has nothing to do with the “Data Acquisition” , “Open Link Timeout” or “Sleep Mode” settings
  • it does not depend on the “Ignition” state either
  • it simply sends data as long as it has power or battery
  • sometimes the data is sent very fast, sometimes very slow (FMB920 is slow)
  • it lives its own strange life as you can see in this graph (the gaps on the x-axis mean “no power”):
