FMB920 not receiving SMS / not attaching to network (1NCE SIM, APN sensor.net)

hey all,
trying to configure my fmb920 remotely via sms but device never seems to attach or receive anything.

setup:

  • sim: 1NCE IoT SIM (apn = sensor.net, confirmed by 1NCE)

  • power: 12v battery

  • gsm + gps antennas connected

  • sms only delivers when sim is in my phone — once i insert the sim into device, all messages stay pending in 1NCE portal

what i’ve already done:

  • sent setparam 2001:sensor.net;2002:;2003:;2004:ch1300513.flespi.gw;2005:32877;2006:0

  • power cycled multiple times

  • verified sim works fine in a phone (data + sms ok)

what’s odd:

  • bluetooth pairing works fine on my Mac (device is visible and connectable)

  • but Configurator doesn’t detect the tracker over bluetooth or usb

  • tried multiple data cables and adapters, still not showing in Device Manager or Configurator

what i’ve already done:

  • enabled roaming

  • set correct apn + tcp server via sms

  • saved config manually

  • rebooted device

still, gsm led keeps fast-blinking → looks like it never registers to any network.

anyone used 1NCE sims successfully with fmb920?
could this be a firmware / radio band / roaming issue?
and does usb failure usually point to a hardware or driver problem?

thanks in advance

Use a Windows device to configure your tracker with the correct APN settings. Mac is unreliable with basically any enterprise hardware you connect to it.

After you configured your tracker and restarted it, look at the status page and check if GPRS shows as enabled and check if data is being sent to your tracking server.

Are you using the latest firmware on your tracker?

Are you using the correct version of Configurator that fits to the firmware version? Because of you are using incompatible versions, they may not detect each other and will not connect.

Are you sure you are using the FMB920? Because you are saying you connected GSM+GPS antennas to it. The FMB920 does not have external antennas.

It shouldn’t be any radio band issue, as the FMB920 is sold as a worldwide version which should work in any GSM/2G network.

And just fyi: By June 2028 Germany will turn off the 2G networks entirely and your tracker will no longer function as you have the 2G version.
