Fmb130 speed issues

Hi Team,

I’m encountering an issue with an FMB130 device configured to trigger overspeeding at 80 km/h (high priority). Despite the setting, the device sometimes records and sends overspeed alerts starting at higher speeds (e.g., 89 km/h, 98 km/h, or even 100 km/h) without first detecting the configured threshold of 80 km/h (±3 km/h).

       Current Configuration:
  • Overspeed Threshold:** 80 km/h (high priority)
  • Data Record & Send Interval:** 3 minutes
  • Speed Source:GNSS
  • Firmware Version:04.00.00 Rev01

Observations

  • Alerts are inconsistent, skipping the 80 km/h trigger in some cases. Despite the device see enough no of satellites ( 14 satellites)

what may causes this and resolution

Hi @AloyceE

Good day, kindly try to update the firmware of your device to 04.00.00.rev.09

Here is the link: Teltonika Drive

It is normal to received an overspeeding scenario that is more than the set threshold.
The Source is from the GNSS meaning the data is coming from the GNSS satellite not from the vehicle CAN data.

Dear Maynard,

Thank you for your prompt response. I have a few additional questions for clarification:.

  1. The speed data was sourced directly from GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) and not from the vehicle’s CAN bus. I’m trying to understand what could cause the overspeeding event to be detected above the threshold, considering a measurement error of ±3 km/h.

In this case, the overspeeding threshold was set at 80 km/h, meaning overspeeding should be triggered within the range of 77–83 km/h (accounting for the ±3 km/h margin). However, there was an instance where the vehicle accelerated abruptly from 60 km/h to 92 km/h without registering 80 km/h as the overspeeding start point.

  1. Overspeed Detection Configuration
Is there a way to adjust the device settings to ensure immediate overspeed detection once the vehicle reach the predefined threshold? If so, what specific configurations should be modified?

  2. Firmware Update (04.00.00.Rev09) Changes
Could you provide details on the key changes or improvements introduced in firmware version 04.00.00.Rev09 compared to previous versions?

I appreciate your support and look forward to your guidance.
