Hello everyone,
Our company is involved in oversized transportation and also manufactures semi-trailers. Our fleet mainly consists of MAN trucks (Euro 5 and above).
We have recently started implementing fleet monitoring using Teltonika FMB125 + CAN adapter.
From CAN we already successfully read the following parameters:
-
83 — Fuel Consumed
-
89 — Fuel level
Could you please advise:
1) Fuel monitoring — which fuel sensors are best to add to this setup?
We are looking for maximum accuracy (fuel refills / fuel theft detection / real consumption tracking).
Which fuel sensors work best with FMB125:
-
fuel level sensor in the tank (0–10V / 4–20mA / RS485)
-
or fuel flow sensor
-
which specific models/manufacturers do you recommend for real heavy-duty truck conditions?
Also, from practical experience:
since we already have Fuel Consumed + Fuel level from ECU, does it still make sense to install an additional fuel tank sensor, and in which cases it significantly improves accuracy (e.g. theft detection, unstable CAN level readings, etc.)?
2) Semi-trailer — load / weight measurement
Since we manufacture semi-trailers, we would like to equip them with a solution for load / overweight detection (payload or axle load measurement).
Could you recommend solutions that can be integrated with Teltonika FMB125:
-
using analog inputs
-
or via RS485
-
or any other best practice solution (for example, air suspension pressure sensors)?
Thank you in advance for your recommendations, wiring examples, and proven sensor models.
