Hi all,
I have a brandnew FMB020, bought from an authorized retailer (Digitec, Switzerland). The device is detected correctly over USB — IMEI, firmware and COM port all show up — but the Configurator displays “Not supported”, so I can’t open the configuration view or reach any firmware-update option.
Device details:
- Model: FMB020
- IMEI: 35061207****0227 (full IMEI available on request via DM)
- Firmware: 03.27.12 Rev:93
What I’ve already tried:
- Latest Configurator (1.8.10) → “Not supported”
- Older Configurator (1.7.72) → “Not supported”
- “Create new configuration” only offers 03.28.x firmware lines — there’s no 03.27.x option in either Configurator version.
- I obtained the official
FMB.Ver.04.00.00.rev.550_and_configurator.zipbundle from the Teltonika wiki and tried the Configurator bundled inside it → still “Not supported,” no menu to load the.e.ximfirmware file.
My diagnosis (please correct me if wrong):
This looks like the same pattern as other “Not Supported / no config menu” threads I found here (e.g. the FMB920-on-01.03.13 case), where staff explained that very old/special firmware can’t be bridged to a new base firmware line directly — it needs a step-by-step upgrade through intermediate firmware files, delivered via a specialized internal firmware updater application, rather than the public Configurator. If that’s the case here too, I’d rather get the right tool/files from you than keep trying combinations of public Configurator versions.
My questions:
- Is 03.27.12 a special/customer firmware, and is that why no public Configurator (old, new, or the one bundled with 04.00.00/Rev.550) can open it?
- Can you provide the intermediate firmware file(s) and the firmware updater application needed to step this device up to a supported version?
- Alternatively, can this be done via FOTA WEB — and if so, how do I get the device linked to a FOTA account? The device has a working SIM with mobile data, so an over-the-air update should be possible.
I’m holding off on further manual flashing attempts, since I’ve seen reports of Configurator 1.8.10 putting devices into an unrecoverable “boot mode” on failed updates — don’t want to risk that on a brand-new unit.
I’m happy to provide proof of purchase or my full IMEI / FOTA WEB account email privately if needed.
Thanks a lot for any help!
