FM1100 lost GPS and SMS alarm functionality

Hello everybody.
My old faithful FM1100 device lost major part of its functionality. I have used it in following ways:

  1. remote control of heater by SMS command “setdigout” -this is still working
  2. vehicle battery voltage measurement by SMS command “readio 66” -this is still working
  3. burglar alarm forwarding triggered from IN3 by SMS -does not work anymore.
  4. location asking by SMS command “ggps” -does not work anymore “GPS data not available. No GPS signal”

I have made the following troubleshooting:

  1. I checked the GPS antenna -it is properly connected
  2. I have made several soft boots by configurator and hard boots by turning off power.
  3. I checked the IN3 status by SMS command “getio”: it receives alarm properly.
  4. I checked by configurator that my old configuration is still there. In addition I moved it once again back to my device from my backup file. -No change
  5. I checked by SMS command “getweektime” that the devce has wrong time

Any ideas, how to fix this?
The device has been many months unpowered. Could it cause this kind of symptoms?

Hello @johncollin,

I hope you are doing well. I suggest you update the device to the latest Firmware version, however we could not provide Firmware on community thus suggesting you to coordinate with your Sales Manager so we can further assist you.

Hello,

Try a new antenna, test outdoors, and do a GPS cold start.

Best Regard,
Nipo

Thanks Nipo for very rapid answer.
I have made cold starts already by turning power off for a while. But is there a separate cold start command for gps? I did not find such. I remember from older Garmin gps devices, that cold start took really long time, but it was faster if I told the device correct time and rough estimate of location.
Anyway, I do not believe in antenna fault, because the device and antenna are very protected under the vehicle dashboard and gps worked ok last autumn before I turned power off over the winter time. The antenna + cable look fine and connector is connected. The vehicle is in such location that it has always got a good position signal before. Unfortunately I do not have a spare antenna with similar connector.

By the way, I already solved the problem with SMS events. I allowed to send SMS events without time sync. Now the alarm works but the time stamp is on year 2012.

Kind regards
John

Thank you Patrick

I will be in touch with your support if I can’t resolve the problem other ways.

Kind regards
John
