Battery autonomy

Advise me which GPS tracker or which settings to choose according to the following demands:

  • my primary goal is to track my car if it gets stolen
  • if car is turned on and driven, I want tracker to report its location over 4G (on specific time-interval)
  • if car is turned off, tracker doesn’t have to report its location - unless I request the location by SMS command
  • because of demand (bullet) nr.3, tracker should last at least 3 days without main power - if a thief cuts the power.

Why 3 days? Sometimes I don’t check on my car even for several days. If it gets stolen on day one, I want to have some slack time with battery

Many Teltonika trackers are equipped with 170 mAh battery. If trackers enter Online Deep Sleep mode (they are able to receive SMS command), internal battery lasts about 21 hours which isn’t long enough for me.

Am I missing something here and could battery last longer according to my needs?

Thanks.

Hello

you need to use FMC920,

connection: Black and red, and yellow cable with the ignition

the battery is backup battery, it can last for some hours, not days,

for the sleep mode, you need to use online sleep mode, as you can send SMS to the device to get the current location whenever you want if there is no movement

Shouldn’t be some other model a better choice?
Such as FMC234 with 1000 mAh battery?

This one has a little bit higher power consumption, but should last several days in Online Sleep Mode.

At 12V < 3 mA (Ultra Deep Sleep)
At 12V < 5 mA (Deep Sleep)
At 12V < 16 mA (Online Deep Sleep)
At 12V < 18 mA (GPS Sleep)
At 12V < 33 mA (nominal with no load)
At 12V < 2 A Max. (with full Load / Peak)
