As a home / domestic user living in a remote rural location, fibre and or copper wasn’t an option at all. So it had to be either Radio, Satellite or Mobile. Radio was very expensive, Satellite i decided was expensive and unreliable, so i chose a mobile solution.
My RUTX50 gave me the option to plug in a USB drive as a network shared drive for the whole family to access for backing up stuff. Although the kit (Router and an external antenna) was an expensive initial purchase, the purchase of preloaded data sims i hope will greatly offset initial setup costs in just a few short years. Choosing a mobile solution gave me much higher speeds, a more reliable stable connection, a lot cheaper without being tied into a contract with a network provider, i can ditch and switch provider easier if needed.
At the time of purchase the RUTX50 was one of just a few offering a 5G modem and being able to plug in a USB drive as a networked drive swung it for me at the time.
I would say that all of these points are to remain and improve. Each, in its own right, is a big separate topic, and while some will vary simply due to portfolio expansion (i.e. consumer housings being plastic, or different OS branches like TSWOS and RUTOS), they are an important direction to maintain and grow (i.e. reliability, security, support availability and quality etc.).
