What do I need to buy to use the RMS VPN?

Hi,

I'm new to the RMS world and I need to understand my way around.

I created an account, registered my device (RUT241) and created a VPN hub as explained in the guides. I downloaded the VPN certificate and I want to try connecting to the plant's PLC.

More than a month has passed since registration, so perhaps the “free” credit has expired, and now I see my device “offline” in the RMS portal. For this reason I purchased a credit, specifically the "RMS License | 1 Credit". Having entered this credit in the portal and activated it on the device, I still see it "offline".

What should I do? Is there anything else I need to buy? Or am I doing something wrong?

Thank you

Hi,

If you just recently activated from newly purchased RMS credit, now you just need to wait up to 6 hours.

In essence, the device does NOT try to connect to the RMS often, but instead does it once every 6 hours to preserve mobile data. During the next connection attempt, it should be able to connect to the RMS.

If you have physical access to the router, navigate to the “Services → Cloud Solutions → RMS” menu, and click the “Connect” button at the top right corner of the page. If you would mouse over the “Connection type” text, you will see more information about the 6-hour connection frequency:

Ok, it’s working….!

Now I’m one step forward, but I still can’t connect to my Siemens PLC.

I’ve downloaded the Open VPN client, downloaded the certificate from RMS portal and the VPN is “connected”.

But, if I try to ping the PLC, isn’t reachable. The route is ok in the portal; the PLC it’s pingable from the router (local LAN) but not from remote. Any suggestions?

Other thing: if I try ping, sometimes but very often, Windows restart with “blue screen of death” :scream: and I have to restart all. Any suggestions also about this?

NOTE: In my PC i’m working on a virtual machine….

Hello @Manuel1,

We are glad to hear that the original issue has been resolved.
If possible, we kindly ask you to create a separate topic for the issues connecting to your PLC.

Thank you!

Best regards,
