USB A port for network connectivity

Hello, the RUT806 and RUG956 both feature a USB A port - it is possible to share the router network directly to a tablet via this port using a simple USB cable?

Currently we are using a RJ45/USB C adapter dongle. It would be amazing to not need this.

(We know we can connect via WiFi, unfortunately this is not an option for us, it must be cabled.)

Good afternoon,

The USB-A ports on Teltonika’s RUT906 and RUT956 routers are primarily designed for connecting external devices such as storage drives, printers, additional modems, or USB-to-serial adapters. These ports do not natively support network sharing to client devices like tablets via a direct USB connection.

To establish a wired connection between your router and tablet without relying on Wi-Fi, your current method—using an RJ45 to USB-C adapter—is appropriate. This setup allows the tablet to utilize the router’s Ethernet connection for internet access.

In summary, the routers USB ports are not intended for direct network sharing to tablets via a simple USB cable.

Arturas
