I have a fairlly simple setup, just for config purposes and now run into a strange issue.
I have a TSW212 and a RUT140 device
laptop => TSW212 port 2
RUT140 LAN => TSW212 port 1
This works fine and I can access the RUT140 WebGUI and configure everything.
As soon as I connect the RUT140 WAN port to my home network, TSW212 port1 gets blocked by STP. It took me awhile to figure this out … luckily the eventlogs were pretty helpful.
I found a solution by going in the RUT140 advanced config for LAN, enable Bridge mode and enable STP on that port. This solves the issue … but I have no idea how this is even possible? Only explanation I can think of right now is that BPDU packets are routed from my home network to the RUT140 LAN network and this somehow triggers the TSW212 to block the port. But there is no loop that I can think off and afaik, bpdu packets aren’t routed?
Anyone have any insight in this?
