TSW101 - active PoE combined with passive PoE router

Hi community…I have a TSW101 (it has active PoE) and have a CudyL500 4G outdoor router (it has passive Poe).
I’ve found this:

'Disclaimer: TSW101 and Passive PoE devices

There are a couple of options to stay safe when using TSW101 Active PoE with devices that only support Passive PoE:

  • Connect TSW101 and Passive PoE device only via non-PoE Ethernet ports (for example, do not use TSW101 PoE ports with LAN1 ports on Teltonika devices).
  • If there is a need to use LAN1 port on the end device, make sure that TSW101 and the end device are powered from different voltage sources (for example, power both devices from different PSUs, or different batteries).

If TSW101 and a Passive PoE device are connected with common ground, do not use LAN1 port…’

My 4G outdoor router has only one LAN port. It gets the power through that port. Any port I use on TSW101 with my 4G router (CAT 5E cable, altenative A PoE), it does not show any lifesign. So what now? Any idea would be appreciated…:+1:t2:
My first experience with Teltonika is not the best. Without a solution I will send back the device to amazon.:woman_shrugging:t3:

Link and datasheet here:

Good afternoon,

The TSW101 provides active PoE, which expects a powered device to negotiate power delivery. The CudyL500 router only supports passive PoE, which means it expects a constant voltage (usually 24V) without any negotiation. Because of this mismatch, the TSW101 does not supply power to the router, resulting in no power and no device activity.
Single LAN Port with Passive PoE: Your router has only one LAN port that also supplies power via passive PoE, so you cannot separate data and power lines or use a non-PoE port on the switch to connect it without losing power.
Since your switch cannot directly power a passive PoE device, you need a device that converts active PoE from your TSW101 into passive PoE suitable for your router.
If you must connect the router directly, power the TSW101 and the router from separate power supplies without a common ground, as recommended by us to avoid ground loops and damage.
However, since your router only has one LAN port with integrated passive PoE, this option is limited and may not be practical.

Arturas

Thanks for the answer. Even though I am a tech savvy user, I still prefer easier solutions than this. Both devices were sent back to amazon. I’ll go with 12V devices instead…
