Some Asus routers have ability to connect USB modem:

Checking manual seems your Asus GT-BE98 supports USB modems, but as I understand you either use fiber or 4G/5G connection.

Probably would be best to ask same question in Asus forum.

Please update here if you are able to verify if this works or not.

I´m looking at this from the opposite direction, I have TRM500 and need to find a compatible router to connect it to.

Yes I will update when I have more information. I’m currently in contact with Asus and their forums to get an answet from them.

Hi,

It took some time but I managed to get some respond from Asus. Asus seems to have the same list of verified USB modems as they had when I had another ASUS router 5-10 years ago. Most an these modems are not possible to buy anymore and support only up to 4G, which means that they are not interesting for me, I want something that is more future proof.

What I really wanted to know from Asus was the technical requirements for a modem that can be connected to USB port (used for fail over connection) on my Asus router, but I haven’t managed to get that information.
Maybe I by a modem which looks promising and test it and if it doesn’t work out, I’ll send it back.
