[TRB501] Low download on Bridge Mode, not on NAT

Hello guys,

Just bought a TRB501 that I put in bridge mode, I get ~200mbps. If I put it on NAT mode I get ~600mbps. Latest firmware.

I’ve seen similar topics, but never an answer has been posted to resolve this ?(besides updating firmware but it’s already on the latest TRB501_R_00.07.19.4)

Just tried with TRB501_R_00.07.20.3 same issue.

Hello,

Our R&D are aware of this issue and are working on a fix - the reason for this issue is that when going into bridge or passthrough mode, the entire traffic goes through our devices firewall, with which our device has to deal with, essentially slowing the speeds down by double or triple.

I’m unable to give you an ETA for when the fix will be released, but expect it in the near future firmware updates.

Regards,
M.

From what I’ve seen this issue has been ongoing for years….

Just bought the product, but I should have checked the website before buying this gateway.
NAT works only in the first boot, after that nothing works, I can ping websites but the rest doesn’t work, tried changing MTU but same issue.

For anyone looking to buy this product be aware that bridge/passthrough has limited throughput. Weird for a gateway.

Hello,

This shouldn’t be the case, as NAT is the default mode set for the interface - so essentially, what you’re saying is that mobile isn’t functioning properly (although you’re able to ping websites)?

Regards,
M.

Yes, I can ping IPs, FQDNs, but webpages don’t open.

I have a OPNsense that gets its ip from TRB501 via DHCP.

It works if I put it in bridge mode, then nat mode. It works only this way.

But if it gets rebooted, it doesn’t work anymore. Can ping IPs, FQDNs, but webpages don’t open.

Hello,

Thanks for clarifying. And what if you were to connect directly to the TRB? Is a reboot/change of the used protocol still required, or does it function properly then?

Regards,
M.

Yes, still required.
Bridge mode to Nat mode > Works until next reboot

Nat mode to reboot to Nat mode > Doesn’t work
