TRB500 speed problem in bridge mode

Only after a restart I have the full speed of the TRB500 in bridge mode, after some time but at the latest the next morning the speed drops rapidly again.

I also noticed that the speed in NAT mode is much higher than in bridge mode.

But I need the bridge mode because of my public IP on the following Dream Machine, which controls my network and also VPN.

Last firmware is installed - it can’t be because of that.

Please find a solution.

Hello,

Sorry for the delayed response.

Could you please specify the internal modem firmware version of your TRB500? It can be found in System → Firmware → Update firmware section in WebUI.

Additionally, could you confirm if the same issue persists with the latest 7.11.3 RutOS firmware? You can download it here: TRB500 Firmware Downloads.

Best regards,

Hello,
in the meantime I have bought another router of the brand Zyxel and have the full download and upload even without constant reboots. I still have the TRB500 lying around and ask for info as soon as Teltonika has solved the problem with the modem and the speed losses.
Best regards,

Does it also have bridge mode?
I think I want to replace the TRB500 as well…

yes, I use bridge mode.
it´s model FWA710 you can see technical doc´s on zyxel-homepage.

Thanks for the hint!
It is considerably more expensive but then it is outdoor-suitable and has some more functions, and it has 2.5Gbit ethernet with PoE. More like what we would have preferred.
Hopefully Teltonika will make a similar device in the future… I think the TRB500 is already a bit older.

In my opinion, this has nothing to do with age, either the wrong modem was installed or the software / firmware is not mature. Zyxel finally manages to do it too and I am very satisfied in bridge mode - the network makes Unifi for me. At the moment, it’s the perfect interaction for me.
If I’m in the mood for a little tinkering, I’ll see again in a year if there is a better software / firmware for the TRB500 and try to get it to work. For daily use, it is simply too unstable for me under the current conditions… I can’t rely on him.

For me the TRB500 is stable after upgrading the modem firmware to the version that can be found via the forum (I hate it that there is no open way to update modem firmware to the latest version) and running 7.10 firmware on the device itself (it is remote for me so I did not upgrade past that yet).
However, there are some disadvantages to this device for us:

  • it has 1Gbps ethernet (not 2.5) which would cap the performance when the device itself was fast enough
  • it does not have PoE powering so we had to buy a separate “PoE extractor” and wire that using a separate power connector we had to buy as well
  • it is not “outdoor suitable” and we use it in a greenhouse which is not outdoor but requires some protection against dripping water anyway
  • in bridge mode it does not achieve reasonable performance (220 Mbps max)

It looks like the device you recommended overcomes all those problems!
When we need to buy again we’ll go for that.
