TRB500 - modem disconnecting

Hello,

I have a TRB500 being used for failover critical server services. It has been running flawlessly since May with 0 disconnects.

Firmware version. TRB5_R_00.07.02.8
Kernel version 4.14.290

Please note that I haven’t performed any FW updates or other updates.

On 2023-08-12 at 02:11:25, it disconnected from mobile data. And from here, the problem started.
And immediately went out of active operation.

Now, after a couple of days, I did some test and reviewed the logs.
I found that after an uptime of around 45 minutes, the modem disconnects again.

Restarting the modem doesn’t work, a full restart is required. And disconnects again after 45 minutes…

I urgently need assistance in resolving this issue. Any insights, suggestions, or solutions would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

The first course of action would be to update the firmware to the latest, as your device is currently running the very first release firmware, which contained some issues.
Secondly, the logs state:
Tue Aug 15 23:37:22 2023 kern.notice kernel: network configuration has been changed
Meaning the configuration related to the mobile connection was changed manually, and then saved. This causes the mobile connection to reestablish.

Best regards,

Hello,

I just want to emphasize that no changes have been made when its disconnect, as you claim.

In response to your other question, I performed a factory reset and updated to TRB5_R_00.07.04.4 as requested, but now it cannot connect to 5g.
Downgrading to TRB5_R_00.07.04, I still cannot connect to 5g.

I downgraded once again to TRB5_R_00.07.03.1, where I managed to connect to 5g, but the speed and latency are not optimal as before.

I then tried TRB5_R_00.07.02.8. Here, I was able to connect to 5g as well, but the speed and latency are still not optimal as before.

Disconnect at 45 minutes, disappeared after reset, now the issue is just speed and latency.

Hello,

I’ll ask you to log into the CLI of the device, and run the following commands:
gsmctl -A 'AT+QENG="SERVINGCELL"'
gsmctl -A 'AT+QCAINFO'
Post their output in the next comment.
It is also likely that you are experiencing issue described here: TRB500 no connection on 5G since update - #19 by Daumantas where the WebUI reports 5G status incorrectly. However, this is only an issue with the visualization. Nothing changes functionality-vise.

Best regards,
