TRB500 bricked/dead after factory reset by GUI

Hello,

I’m afraid of having bricked my TRM500 gateway right after just having played around with it to learn how it is working.

After a while I decided to reset the device to factory defaults by GUI. Device seemed to be rebooted but signal strength LED were keeping flashing and after a while the LED für 3G 4G 5G were also flashing.

LED flashing didn’t stop even after several minutes. So I powered off the device. Same result. Even trying to hard reset the device to factory defaults by reset button on backside of device always resulted in same behaviour. I pressed reset button 12-20 seconds according to manual.

Signal strength LEDs are flashing for some time, then 3G 4G 5G LEDs continue to flash. No successful reboot possible. I think I bricked flash drive installed OS. :grimacing:

Did I bricked the device that easy? No way to do a recovery besides pressing reset button? No direct access to re-flash? Did not open the housing by now but not afraid to do so.

That would be very disappointing making me not trust in Teltonika products any more for the future. Especially considering that they are based on OpenWrt that is known to be a free and open source network OS for devices manufactures are not supporting any more and keep them from being electronic waste.

Hi,

check:

This is what I have already done felt a 1000 times without success… :innocent:
Last thing I did before the gateway got broken was to reset to factory defaults by GUI.

In the meantime I have contacted the seller to request a replacement.

Hello @PetaH,

Please let me know if you need any additional assistance regarding this.

Best regards,

Hello @Marija,

I received a replacement TRB500 from my seller. This device now works again with my network configuration.

Have to find out now how to use it as bridge device best practice in combination with my OPNsense.

Right now I am not satisfied with 5G/LTE performance. Maybe network bandwidth issue (ISP german Telekom). I already contacted my ISP concerning this issue as well.

Hello,

Thank you for the update. If your ISP will be unable to help you resolving the performance issue, please create a separate topic on the forum, and we will assist you further.

Thank you.

Best regards,
