TRB256 - Mobile + GPS anomaly - Static IP

Setup:

Static IP SIM from ISP
TRB256 TRB2M_R_00.07.19.4
GPS tracking
VPN for remote connection to controller behind TRB
LAN to 3rd party controller with e-mail notifications
Semi-mobile platform, can loose GPS and mobile coverage at times for longer than 1 day.

GPS location done with 600s wait. 100s GPS fix timeout.

Sometimes the GPS fix doesn’t return from GPS fix timeout or if fix time is longer than ~10s.

GUI doesn’t show Static IP
GPS is ON (in GUI)
VPN service is not available

After some time (more than 30 minutes).
Static IP ping returns. With 600s response and 100s fail intervals.
GUI doesn’t show Static IP
GPS is ON (in GUI)
VPN service is not available
ISP confirms mobile unit has IP

This behavior is expected and inherent to the device’s design, which does not support simultaneous cellular and GNSS connectivity.

As a workaround, you may try enabling WWAN + GNSS mode in the GPS configuration settings (Services → GPS ). In this mode, the device connects to the GNSS system at predefined intervals. During these intervals, the mobile connection is temporarily disabled for a specified timeout period.

Unit is upgraded from Stable branch
TRB2M_R_00.07.19.4

to Latest branch. 600/100 setting is in testing.
TRB2M_R_00.07.20.3_WEBUI.bin

Sidenote:

Soft restart didn't resolve 7.19.4 issue. Only hard restart with power cycle.

600/100 setting testing on Latest branch FW seems to have no issues.

System is having correct 100s timeout and switching back to Mobile Data with no issues with and without GPS signal (with signal fast fix and fast switch back to mobile data).

Will test mobile network coverage loss next.
