I have a few dozen RUT240/241 working with the Simbase operator and Zerotier for remote management.
Now I bought a TRB140 and I would like to use the same configuration so I took it out of the box, inserted the SIM, installed the Zerotier package and everything worked immediately.
Then I updated online the firmware from TRB1_R_00.02. 06.1 to TRB1_R_00.07.10 and now I can’t get Zerotier to work anymore.
I compared the configuration with the RUT240 but I can’t find the difference and I’m really frustrated.
Does anyone have a suggestion for me other than going back to the old firmware?
Best regards
Did you keep settings when updated FW? If so, restore settings to default.
Thank you hrtx,
this is a good practice that I always adopt when I update the firmware on this kind of devices especially when there are many releases of difference but in this case it was not helpful.
Maybe in the current release a more restrictive criterion was applied with certain parameters and what previously did not require any intervention now needs to be manually adjusted?
I’m stumbling in the dark
Hello,
Please try deleting the existing ZeroTier instance in WebUI and creating a new one. This should help resolve the issue.
Additionally, don’t forget to enable remote HTTP access by navigating to System → Administration → Access Control.
Let me know how it goes!
Best regards,
thanks for the help.
I removed the Zerotier instance on the TRB140 and I also removed it on the Zerotier portal so I made a new one that I authorized and that updates every minute like all the other routers that I have in operation but I still can’t access the TRB140 (no ping, SSH, HTTP, HTTPS)
I also tried to reset the TRB140 to factory settings and redo everything from scratch but obviously there is something I am doing wrong.
From the CLI I entered these commands:
root@TRB140:~# zerotier-cli info
200 info 31bdxxxxxx 1.14.0 ONLINE
root@TRB140:~# zerotier-cli get 80xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx ip
172.24.xx.xx (Zerotier Managed IP)
Any good ideas?
Could you please confirm if you have enabled remote HTTP access on the WebUI? Thank you.
Best regards,
Yes,
System, Administration, Access Control, HTTP Remote Access slide ON and default Advanced settings
Thank you for confirming that.
You can check the system logs for any potential cause of the issue by navigating to System → Maintenance → Troubleshoot and pressing Show next to System log. If you don’t find anything unusual, please let me know, and I will send you a form to contact you privately to review the troubleshoot file.
Best regards,
I found these recurring errors:
Tue Oct 22 10:21:51 2024 daemon.err zerotier-one[4028]: Control Plane Stopped
Tue Oct 22 10:21:51 2024 daemon.err zerotier-one[4028]: V6 Control Plane Stopped
Tue Oct 22 10:21:51 2024 daemon.err zerotier-one[4028]: terminate called without an active exception
Not helpful information or is there any hope?
Best regards

Don’t do like me,
don’t put “Bridge to LAN” if you don’t need to do LAN Bridging with Zerotier.
Thanks to the support service.
I’m glad to hear that the issue is resolved now!
Please don’t hesitate to reach out on the forum if you have any more questions!
