TRB140 with no SIM

Hi,

I wan’t to deploy a TRB140 without a SIM card. The customer has a router currently at site at 192.168.1.1

Reason is that I will use the TRB140 for many sites using SIM but occassionally I need to have a wired connection. How to achieve this?

The TRB140 will be used as modbus TCP client and sending MQTT to a cloud broker

Hi there,

The TRB140 has a USB port that you can utilize in order to reach the device locally. Other options would be using the Remote access setup under System → Administration to reach the device remotely. This would work only with a public IP address though - TRB140 Administration - Teltonika Networks Wiki

You may also try out RMS, one of our Remote Management Systems to access the device remotely without the need of a public IP address and such: RMS - Teltonika Networks Wiki

Hi,

I’m not sure that is what I wan’t to achieve.

I wan’t to supply internet connection through the LAN port of the TRB140, the internet connection is coming from a router with IP adress 192.168.1.1, is that possible?

/Tim

Apologies, I might’ve misunderstood your request.

If you want to supply an internet connection to the TRB via an Ethernet cable, all you have to do is simply plug it into the RJ45 port, and then follow this configuration example to set up the LAN port as WAN: LAN as WAN on TRB series - Teltonika Networks Wiki

For accessing the device (since the only LAN port will be occupied by the internet source), refer to my initial message.

Thanks, I followed the instruction but still no internet connection. I can see my device in my router at IP: 192.168.1.109

My STATUS → LAN looks as follows

and my troubleshooting ping as follows:

Looking at the screenshot, it looks like you have an internet connection, but that, I assume is from the SIM card that you have inserted?

If you want to primarily use your WWAN interface as the internet source, I would suggest going to Network → WAN and drag the WAN interface be above the mob1a1s1 interface, more information here: TRB140 WAN - Teltonika Networks Wiki

Additionally, since TRBxxx devices don’t have failover functionality, your primary interface will be the one that the traffic goes through, however, both of them will be active. Once, let’s say, the WAN interface goes down and the mobile stays, the traffic will then go through the mobile.

Hi,
I haven’t got a SIM card inserted. I try to do a firmware update and it says “no internet connection”. I have the WAN on top

Hi,

Please try changing your LAN IP address to 192.168.2.1 (or any other that isn’t the 1.0 subnet) and try testing again. There currently seems to be a conflict.

That did it, thanks alot!

Can we use TRB14O with Honista App.

Hello,

This specific thread is in regard to a completely separate issue. For the next time, please create a new thread to ask any questions or for help.

Regarding the app you’ve provided, we’ve not tested it with any of our devices. However, if you wish, you may try testing it out with your Teltonika device to see if it functions as expected.
