Tracker refuses to activate on any IoT sim, works on data/tablet sim

When I insert a t-mobile data/tablet sim into my FM36M1, it connects immediately to the network and works perfectly. But when I insert an IoT sim from Telnyx or Hologram, both of which are cross-network roaming sims, the console keeps reporting “modem is initializing” and never activates. The IoT sims work and activate with no issues when inserted into a smartphone for testing.

I’ve updated the APN for each card I’ve inserted, I’ve tried connecting in different locations with different service and I’ve tried extensive troubleshooting with one of the sim vendors. I’d typically send AT commands to work this out, but those don’t seem to be available here.

Any ideas on why this might be refusing to activate on any IoT sims that work fine on other devices, while it activates fine on a (much more expensive) normal data sim?

Good Day,

To analyze this issue we would need the logs from the device to understand what exactly is stopping the modem from registering to a network when an IoT SIM is inserted. Kindly contact your sales manager and they will assist you with creating a Partner Portal ticket.

Thanks, and best regards,

Imran S.

I do not have a sales manager - I’m just looking for technical assistance - is there a technical reason why an IoT sim would be different to the device compared to a T-Mobile data-only sim?
