Teltonika RUT956 failover delay 30 minutes

Hello guys,

I am experiencing an issue with several Teltonika RUT956 routers where the failover process is taking approximately 30 minutes to complete.

We currently have a local network connected to the WAN (priority 1) and a SIM card in SIM slot 1 (priority 2). The problem occurs when we are using the WAN connection and it gets interrupted. At that moment, the failover to the LTE network takes about 30 minutes to provide internet access. The router connects to the APN (manually configured to avoid searching for alternatives), receives the public IPv4 from the mobile operator, but fails to deliver internet via WiFi or the LAN network of the RUT. It seems to maintain traffic through the WAN and does not switch over.

I would like to know if anyone has experienced something similar or has any idea what might be happening.

Hi Isouza,

Welcome to Teltonika Networks Community!

If configured by default, failover between Wired WAN and Sim1 should take less than the elapsed time above as SIM1 is already an active source with a lower metric value. Can you configure Sim1 as primary source and confirm if it is having stable connectivity? When triggering failover, can you pull out WAN cable to show primary connection loss.

Run logread -f command on CLI to see real time logs. It should be showing logs about switching to back up WAN after connectivity is lost with the primary WAN.

Let me know if this helps.

Regards,
