Scanning for Hotspots

I have an RTU950 and I do not find this unit very user friendly. It is fitted to my yacht and when I arrive at an anchorage I like to see if there is a hotspot I can join. At the moment I go to Network > Wireless > SSIDs and using mode Multi AP I have a list of access points which I have entered by hand, I have just installed the travel mate bundle to let me log in to hotspots that require terms and conditions to be accepted.

I find this process tedious and honestly I forget how to do it and it takes me ages to remember how to get it to work. Now what I would like is a button to scan for access points so that I can see available access points and then to be able to add any of them to my list.

I downloaded a bundle called “WIFI Scanner” but I can’t find any instructions and as far as I can see it doesn’t do anything. Is there a different bundle that will add the functionality I need?

Good afternoon,

In the first instance I would recommend upgrading the device to the newest firmware, if you haven’t done so yet.

The RUT950 allows you to scan for available WiFi networks and join them directly from the WebUI.

Go to Network → Wireless → SSIDs, press Scan. This will search for all nearby WiFi networks.
After the scan, you will see a list of available access points.
Click Join Network next to the desired SSID

Arturas
