RUTX50 no WIFI 5GHz signal

Hi, my RUTX50 was working great at home. Now I‘m on vacation with my Camper and no WIFI 5GHz signal is available. WIFI setting is similar to 2GHz and it is on, but only 2GHz has a signal and is working.
At home both WIFI were working fine.
Someone an idea?

Hi,

Are all WiFi antennas attached?

Hello,

As lemondude asked, are all Wi-Fi antennas attached to the device? Additionally, what’s the status of the Wi-Fi interface in the WebUI? Should be up and running as seen below:

Regards,
M.

Hi, yes WiFi Antennas attached and I switch it also a cross. No changes.

Hi, the status is exactly the picture you sent.
But antennas signal is 0%.

Hi, Claus,

The signal is going to be 0% until a client connects, I believe. Here you can see a signal appeared for me once I connected:

So for example, you use a phone to connect to the 5G Wi-Fi, does it even appear in the list of networks? If it does, what happens when you try to connect?

Regards,
M.

Hi, yes I use my phone to connect, but only 2GHz is available and connected. 5GHz is not in the list/not available.

Best regards,
Claus

And what about, say, a computer (Laptop, Desktop if has a Wi-Fi module)? Does it also fail to find the network?

Could you try to disable and re-enable the interface under Network → Wireless → SSIDs? Simply set it to “off” and then back to “on”:

M.

Sadly, I’ve no laptop or desktop with me (I#m on vacation with my camper). Just my iPad and another iPhone, but no device is getting the 5GHz WiFi in the list.

I tried off/on for more times, but nothing changed.

Makes this a bit harder to troubleshoot.. If the interface status is up & running, then from the device end, there are no issues, also basing on the fact that at home, it works fine for you.

You can try 2 more things, which are a bit drastic, but worth a shot at least:

  1. Deleting the 5GHz interface and recreating it from scratch, options are as follows (I use a RUTX11 for these photos):

(Advanced settings tab can be leaved untouched).

If the network still doesn’t appear, move on to step No. 2, which is resetting the device in 2 different ways:

  1. Holding down the reset button for 12 seconds
  2. Resetting it via Bootloader menu: Bootloader menu - Teltonika Networks Wiki

Make sure you pre-download the firmware file if you’re doing the bootloader reset, as you’ll have to upload it in the menu: RUTX50 Firmware Downloads - Teltonika Networks Wiki

Hi, problem found!
I’ve connected my Home WiFi (FritzBox), when I was at home. This connection was still available And on with connection to 5GHz. I disabled this connection and magic :see_no_evil_monkey: the 5GHz is available and able to connect!

Thank you all for your support!

Claus
