RUTX50: Mobile EMM reject cause: Network Failure

Hi Community,

Device: RUTX50
Firmware: RUTX_R_00.07.22.3

I am currently in Sweden, before in Denmark. Roaming is needed. I could not connect to any Danish or Swedish operator. Well, I can connect “somehow” but do not get an Internet connection (see screenshot).

None of the Danish or swedish providers grants access to the Internet I have the impression that there’s some wrong settings on my RUTX50.

This message pops up in all cases: Mobile EMM reject cause: Network Failure

I am a bit lost.

Cheers, Frank

Add-on: I use a German SIM Card (02) and it works fine in Germany.

Does it work if you set the connection to 4G/3G only? If so, upgrade the modem firmware.

Thanks for the answer.

I changed the settings to 4G/3G. This did not help. The firmware is the latest (RUTX_R_00.07.22.3).

Hi, @FrankJe

@pwhooftman is asking about the modem firmware… not the version of firmare of the rutx50.

You can find this at System > Firmware > Update Firmware > Modem Update.

Hi Marcelo,

thanks for your advice. I was not aware that a seperate Modem firmware exists.

When I check what you recommended I found though that the latest Modem firmware is installed (Internal modem firmware version: RG501QEUAAR12A11M4G).

Try using the settings below, see if it makes a difference …

NETWORK > MOBILE > GENERAL > SIM configuration > SIM1

Turn off ‘Deny data roaming’

NETWORK > MOBILE > GENERAL > Interface mob1s1a1 APN configuration

Turn off Auto APN and enter your providers details

NETWORK > MOBILE > CONNECTION > SIM1

Set prefered network type to ‘4G only’

NETWORK > WAN > WAN INTERFACES > mob1s1a1

Set PDP type to ‘IPv4’ only (I’m assuming the carrier isn’t an IPv6 only network)

I’ll ask an obvious silly question…

Is roaming allowed with the sim you purchased and if so is Denmark and Sweden a part of the group of countries you can use the sim within. I’d contact O2 to find out.

Hi akwe-xavante,

that’s a good point. Yes, roaming is allowed. We used the same card before in other countries.

The contract with o2 offers two cards: one in a mobile phone (which I share now as a backup solution) an one data card for routers only.

o2 is a pretty chaotic company and I would not exclude that the problem is on their side.

Next thing for me to do is testing Mike’s advice. I’ll report …

Hi Mike,

  1. “Deny data roaming” was turned off already.
  2. When turning off Auto APN I get the option in the field below to choose the provider (o2) plus a line to “Add custom option”. No idea if a custom option is needed. Should I fill in anything – and if: what?
  3. The network type was “4G only” already.
  4. The PDP type was “IPv4 only” already.

The settings you provided lead to an “operator state: denied” state.

Cheers, Frank

That’s the result:

First ensure you know your providers (O2 Germany?) APN details … usually in a support area on their website.

Enter in the APN manually.

As I left Sweden/Denmark two days ago I am currently not able to do tests. As a result I cannot contact o2 now on my home terrain. I will have to reset the RUTX50 again (how often did I do that now?).

So the issue will appear again next time when I will be in a foreign country. I’ll remember this thread then a keep on posting.

Cheers, Frank
