RUTX50 IPv4 connectivity started to fail

Dear Support Team / Community,

We are currently experiencing recurring network issues with our Teltonika RUTX50 router that have become increasingly disruptive to our operations.

For the past month, we’ve observed that approximately every 10 minutes, the following events are logged:

  • “IPv4 connectivity started to fail”

  • “DNS resolution started to fail”

During these periods, we are unable to access any online resources or even communicate with devices within the same intranet. Ping tests to other devices connected to the same RUTX50 also fail, indicating a complete loss of local and external connectivity.

This router had been functioning reliably for about six months prior to these issues. Initially, the problem occurred once every 2–3 days, but it has since escalated to happening every few hours. Our current temporary workaround is to restart the RUTX50, after which connectivity is restored within 3–4 minutes. However, this is not a sustainable solution.

We would greatly appreciate any professional advice or suggestions on the following:

  • What diagnostics or logs should we review to identify the root cause?

  • Are there known firmware issues or updates that may address this behavior?

  • Could this be related to DHCP lease times, NAT table exhaustion, or hardware degradation?

  • Are there recommended configuration changes or monitoring tools that could help us better understand and mitigate the issue?

Any insights or guidance would be highly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Hello,

As a first step, please upgrade your device to the latest 7.16.3 firmware version. It can be downloaded from the following link: RUTX50 Firmware Downloads - Teltonika Networks Wiki

If the issue persists after updating the firmware, please check if the mobile antennas are properly connected to the router.

You can also check the signal strength and any errors related to the mobile connection by navigating to Status → Network → Mobile in the WebUI. Recommended signal strength values can be found here: Mobile Signal Strength Recommendations - Teltonika Networks Wiki

For a more in-depth investigation, you can check detailed logs from the device in System → Maintenance → Troubleshoot.

Please let me know how it goes and if you need any further assistance.

Best regards,
