There is a difference between updating to the latest firmware from web gui, and flashing latest firmware via boot loader that i suggested.
The problem is that i don"t have a windows pc (only mac) and as i saw the solution requires a windows pc.
Hi, @AdrianG
The steps, at the " RUTXxx Firmware via The Bootloader Menu " are just tcp/ip address config, using screenshots from a windows computer… convering PC (Personal Computer).
Same instructions, not same screens, can be used for Linux, MAC (any version), etc…
Main points are:
-
power OFF the device;
-
set a Static IP on your PC, e.g. 192.168.1.50;
-
press and hold the RESET button on the back-panel side of the router;
-
power ON the router and wait 5-8 seconds until all LAN LEDs start blinking simultaneously, then - release the RESET button;
-
to enter the bootloader’s WebUI, open your browser (Chrome, Firefox, Opera) in Private mode and enter http://192.168.1.1/index.html;
-
once in bootloader’s WebUI you can upgrade the firmware.
And there is chapter with screenshots to be used by MAC OS (PC) owners.
This procedure is OS agnostic. That means it works on any operating system as long as you can set the static IP and have access to web browser. And flashing through boot loader menu is known to resolve the very issue you are describing.
I managed to connect the modem but only after on Connection i moved to 4G/3G only. On 5G it not connecting

Hmmmmmmmm.
I am on RG520NEBDCR03A06M4G on a RUTC50 since some days. Lately, I do have “hanging” connections when using 5G.
Will say: The modem is connected, but I cannot ping anything, “no internet” (but IP assigned). Restarting the connection does NOT help. I have to switch the SIM back and forth the make 5G working again (or restart the router).
Anyone else having unstable 5G connection with the latest modem firmware?
Today it happened again. Suddenly, all traffic stopped, but modem was still connected to carrier. Very strange. This is since I updated to RG520NEBDCR03A06M4G, never happened with RG520NEBDCR03A04M4G_01.200.01.200.
Is it still possible to downgrade to RG520NEBDCR03A04M4G?
Update: I now check the modems temperature, maybe its getting too warm?
while true; do gsmctl -c; sleep 30; done
In idle its around “550”, which means 55°C I guess. Lets see…
Today it happened again and its not the temperature (temp is around 51°C), device is not under load or anything.
So, all in all: My RUTC50 with modem on RG520NEBDCR03A06M4G_A0.300.A0.300 behaves strange. Every ~3 days an established 5G connection starts to “hang”, no traffic goes through anymore. Status (modem) is still “connected” and I can see all the colorful bands under “/status/network/mobile”. Nothing in the logs.
Of course, it could also be my mobile operator kicking me out every 3 days. But this has not happened before this new modem-firmware.
Very strange, and looks like I am the only one with this problem?
My provider kicks me every day at exactly 00:00 hours. I would check with your provider before you start any troubleshooting.
I have rutx50 and I cannot find this modem version in the modem upgrade page in the gui?
Did you download and install this manually?
Thats because your RUTX50 is not using RG520 modem. You have older RG501.
Thank you. Indeed I have the very first version of RUTX50 that has this modem.
