Having upgraded firmware to 7.13 and my router performs a scheduled reboot, i get an email and a text saying that an unexpected shutdown has taken place. When i do a hard reboot, which is essentially an unexpected shutdown, i don’t receive an email or a text message.
On each scheduled reboot, twice a day, i was getting an email confirming the reboot, i no longer receive them any more.
Just noticed that this firmware version has been withdrawn.
When will “Event Reporting” be removed? I’m assuming this will be replaced by “Event Juggling”.
I think it’s time for me to do my next firmware upgrade without saving settings and have a fresh start without importing a backup of saved a configuration.
The issue is most likely related to the auto-reboot function. Firmware version 7.13 was removed due to an unexpected reboots issue. A fix is currently being implemented, and the updated firmware should be available soon.
In the meantime, you can downgrade to version 7.12.3, which can be downloaded here. However, please note that downgrading will reset the router to factory defaults, erasing all current configurations.
However, upgrading the firmware didn’t help at all with the scheduled events that i have created.
With this, i had a look at my added events to discover that they were in a mess. Mixed up, somehow changed. With this i corrected them and test emails get sent but when the event takes place the email doesn’t get sent. Text are not getting sent either.
So i’ve decided to delete them all and recreate them from afresh sometime later today and see what happens.
Please let me know how it goes.
If you continue to experience the issue, could you provide more details about your configuration? Specifically, it would be helpful to know what events reporting you have set up, what email provider you’re using, and any relevant screenshots of your settings, if possible.
These event reporting rules worked perfectly before my 7.13 firmware upgrade.
I have now deleted and recreated my event reporting rules.
Sending test emails works perfectly, and the recipient receives the test emails.
One of the rules i can test in reality is the “Unexpected Shutdown Event”. On starting up, the text message is sent and received, but the email is not received by the recipient. Don’t know for sure if it actually gets sent though.
My next scheduled reboot isn’t until 18:00hrs this evening, so i’ll have to wait for that one, when an email gets sent to confirm that a reboot took place and was successful.
The text message was sent and received, but i’ve also noticed that the time in the text is wrong as it’s 18 minutes late!!
Time sent and received was 13:15hrs, the time in the text message reads 12:33hrs. Checked the date and time in the router, and it’s correct. A difference of 18 minutes.
Silly me, i can check to see if the email is sent by having a look in my Webmails sent box… No sent email exists, and no email received in the inbox either.
Sending a test email works, the sent email is in my Webmails sent box and gets delivered into my inbox.
Over the weekend there have been six scheduled restarts and i’ve received all six emails letting me know that the router has restarted successfully.
So it’s the only errors now are that it is not sending the email after an unexpected shutdown and the time in the text that is sent is 18 Minutes adrift.
Problem resolved along with other issues being experienced by downgrading the firmware to an older version and then upgrading before doing anything else.
Could you please confirm if, when updating without selecting “Keep Settings,” everything works as it should?
Additionally, do you happen to have a troubleshoot file from the device when the issue was still occurring?
Thank you Marija for posting back and for your help and that of others, i think i’m now sorted.
It would seem that for now after just 4 days that everything is now working without issues. Time will tell if this is a long term permanent solution to the problem or not. It’s also worth noting that the router GUI is behaving as it did when purchased new.
Sorry, sadly not, i deleted them given that i believed that my problem was resolved at the time. I’ll make a note to remember to save the last three troubleshoot files going forward, just in case.
