RUTX50 Framed Route

Hi All,

I’ve seen several threads from others asking for assistance in getting framed route to work, all seem to end unanswered and getting auto closed.

Had anyone got it to work?

I’m looking to use it with a fairly basic setup but can’t seem to find the clarity of information on exactly what’s required.

In the WAN interface mob1s1a1 advanced settings, framed routing is enabled & under firewall settings it’s assigned to firewall zone “framed mob1s1a1”.
The LAN address is set to match the cellular APN framed route address range.

In the firewall Zones I’ve tried a number of combinations of allowing forward to destinations zones and forward from source zones

I have not set any static routes as on other modems I’ve not had to.

Can it be done with a Cellular APN framed route and has anyone had it working?

Greetings, @adrian.rollins

Thank you for reaching out.

If Framed Routing is enabled but traffic from LAN devices is still being translated to the router’s WAN address, this may indicate an issue with the Framed Routing configuration, firewall settings, or upstream routing.

Could you please clarify:

  • Which RutOS version is currently installed?
  • Is masquerading enabled or disabled on the LAN-to-WAN traffic path?
  • Does the issue persist with a default firewall configuration and only Framed Routing enabled?
  • Has the mobile service provider confirmed that Framed Routing is supported and correctly configured on their side?

Please do not share any public IP addresses or other sensitive information on the forum.

Best regards,
V.

Hi V,

The device is running RUTX_R_00.07.21.3.

I had already had this service working with framed routing on another modem so knew it was fully working.

Default firewall configuration with only framed routing enabled did not work, normally all I’ve needed to do on other devices is turn the firewall off as its all privately routed and not required.

I have since gotten it working, all it seemed to be missing was the correct Forward to and from Zones in the firewall zones. (Added in LAN & Framed to LAN, LAN & WAN to Framed, LAN & Framed to WAN with Masquerading still on)

Thanks
