I started with RUT241 on place with not good LTE signal.
All bands are present. 1800, 2100, 2600 (20MHz), 900, 800, 700
Switching between bands experimentally I discovered this things.
B7 2600MHz have good DL speed (30-40Mbps), but slow UL (10 or less Mbps)
B1 2100 have worse DL, but better UL (can reach 30Mbps)
B3 1800 have DL 10-30Mbps, but best UL 30-40Mbps.
700-900MHz are slower.
I upgraded to RUTX14 to have better speeds and use Carrier Aggregation.
Speeds become better in DL. around 50Mbps stable.
Upload depends on main band chosen by router (15-40Mbps)
I have made test with different bands enabled and disabled.
To have best DL speed B1,B3 and B7 should be enabled.
BUT depend which is the first band in CA the upload speed varies from 15 to 40Mbps.
I want to use CA B1,B3,B7 but to chose which is the main band (the band used for upload)
UL does not support CA For example I want to use B3 1800 for main band and UPLOAD, B1 and B7 as second aggregated bands. They are supported by provider (A1 Bulgaria), But router can select main band randomly and that affects UL speed
Can you please help resolve the case.
Current FW RUTX_R_00.07.16.3 / EG12EAPAR01A15M4G
But with 7.16.x and 7.15.4 was the same as general
For your specific case, you could utilize the band locking feature to ensure that only the three desired LTE bands (B1, B3, and B7) are enabled for carrier aggregation. However, please note that the primary band (baseband) used for upload will still be selected automatically by the modem, based on its signal strength and stability at the time of connection.
You can find more information on how to configure manual band locking in the guide below:
Desired band are selected by default. That is not the problem.
As I wrote in the first post I know how to limit allowed bands.
I need to be able to select the primary band
According to Quectel’s EG12 AT commands manual, there is no direct command to force a specific primary band when using carrier aggregation. Natively, it’s not possible to set a static primary (uplink) band, the modem will automatically select the PCell (primary cell) based on network and radio conditions.
