RUTX14 as USB SSD NFS server

Hi,

I would like to use RUTX14 router as NFS server for attached SSD USB disk drive. But at the moment I cant even get the SSD shown via fdisk nor any other method. The physical light from the external drive lits up, but nothing in dmesg nor fdisk -l. Any help to move forward?

Would like to format the drive and attach it as NFS share to my local network for ip-camera’s to record on.

Hello,

Apologies for a delayed response. Could you confirm if the initial issue is still unresolved? If so:

  • Have you tried formatting your SSD disk before connecting it to the router?
  • Have you tested with a different USB drive? Your SSD might be drawing more power than the router can provide.
  • I’ve tested connecting an HDD disk on my end, and it only appeared in the device list after refreshing the mounted file system. Did you try refreshing?

Best regards,

Hi, I did format the drive and it is shown ok in my mac after the formatting. Additionally, the formatting shouldn’t have anything to do to actually show the disk itself in the dmesg, right? I can always format it again in the linux. Additionally I can’t see the USB-SSD bridge in lsusb either, so is there a limitation in power usage on the USB port in RUTX14? At this point, that’s the only thing I can come up with.
