RUTX11 - How to Limit Download/Upload Size (Not Speed) on a Network Interface?

Hi all,

Just looking for a way to limit the download/upload traffic size for clients connected to an interface.

I have already followed this guide to limit the download/upload speeds on my WIFI interface which is acting as a guest network (https://wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/RUT956_Traffic_Shaping).

I would like to now limit the amount of data they can download/upload per session/day if possible?

Hi there,

You may set up a Hotspot and from there configure User Groups and each can have its own Upload/Download data limitations: https://wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/RUT956_Hotspot#User_Groups

If I just create a user group with download/upload size limitations and assign that to my guest WI-FI interface, is it possible to allow any user to connect to the hotspot rather than have to specify individual users who can connect? Since I would like to limit the download / upload size of any and all users who connect to the guest WIFI instead of having to specify specific users.

Hi there,

Simply create a new user group:

Then assign it in the general hotspot settings as seen here:

And also create a local user (you only need one):

You can then enable the Hotspot and whenever users login, they will have to write the password and username that you’ve set. Each user will be separated and they will have separate data limits (say you set 1000MB per day for each user):
