RUTM50 and USB to Serial adapter

I see prior forum posts like this reporting success using USB/Serial adapters on the USB A port of RUT955 and RUT956 routers to get additional serial ports.

USB to Serial adapter not showing

Hi, I am using a SBPC that has by default a serial console on a port with a microUSB connector. I was wondering if I can try to use my RUT956 modem to communicate with this port, from its USB-A port. I have connected the RUT956 to the board using a USB-A to microUSB cable, but in Services->Serial Utilities, the USB adapter does not show up. Is this supposed to be the case? I am using Firmware version RUT9M_R_00.07.06.3 Thank you! Alberto

Can I expect the same with the new RUTM50? Would adding such an adapter make Serial IP and MODBUS features available in RUTM50 firmware, like they are for RUT956?

Hello,

This feature should be present on the RUTM50, as it is already available on the RUTX50, and they are almost identical devices. When the serial cable is plugged in, a new selectable device should become available. Additionally, Modbus and other services are enabled on devices without serial by default.
