RUT955 Mobile connection stopped working

Hi,

I’ve been using my RUT955 at this place for many months. After I’ve returned the router from a tour with the camper van (where it worked), it refuses to connect to any cellular network here.

As I had such issues already a few times, I’ve completely reset the router, which always helped - but this time, I can’t make it work.

I have 3 SIM cards (the one from the logs is ho-mobile, a Vodafone IT based MVNO (22210)). I also have an emnify SIM card, where I can confirm that not even a Location Update is happening, which appears consistent, as I also wasn’t able to receive SMS via the ho SIM.

  • I’ve reset the router to defaults and configured the APN web.ho-mobile.it (which doesn’t actually matter, if it’s not even attaching to any network, yet).

  • I’ve tried manual operator selection for home network 22210 (not included in the logs below)

  • I’ve tried different antennas, all of them used to work before

  • the place has good reception, the router was working fine here before.

  • I ran operator search and it found multiple operators

  • and tried it with all 3 SIM cards, which work in other devices; reset and restarted the router multiple times - nothing.

What else can I try? Or is it broken?

Good afternoon,

In addition to the steps you have already tried, I would like to also recommend to try to band-lock the device. Check which band the device connects to the easiest, and in WEBUI Network → Mobile → Connection change the band to manually connect to your preffered one. More info : Band Lock - Teltonika Networks Wiki

However I can see from your logs, that the device is unable to establish the connection to the operator, without any specific error. I would also like to recommend putting the device in optimal conditions, with all antennas, where you have minimal or no physical/network interruptions.

You can try flashing the device’s firmware with bootloader method. Instructions : RUT9xx Bootloader Upgrade - Teltonika Networks Wiki

Arturas

Hi Arturas,
thanks for your swift reply.
Rest assured that the device has good coverage. I don’t see why Band Lock should help.. I had let it search operators for more than a day before (and also the Operator Search finds the cells).

So you are suggesting to upgrade the firmware (did so ~1 month ago, but probably there is a newer one available). Any specific reason, why you suggest teh bootloader method? Or can I download the file and upload it via the WEBUI as well?

Thanks
Steffen

Hi Stephen,

Can you advise me the current state of the device? Do you need further assistance?
As there have been several firmware upgrades since you had this issue, can you advise if they solved it?

Regards,
Arturas

Dear Arturas,

Thanks for getting back to the topic.
I installed (via WebUI) the one firmware update that was available few weeks back, but nothing changed.

Otherwise it is still the same - operator scan finds all the network, but I can’t attach to any of them (also verified from emnify side that there is absolutely no signaling coming from the modem).

What else can I reset beyond the factory reset? I’m currently on a trip but want to check again in 2-3 weeks when I’m back.

Thanks
Steffen

Hi there,

Can you confirm, that you reset the device, and tested in with normal Sim purchased in a store in your local country? That sim has no Pin code, and also works in a phone no issues?

Also from what it seems from you config, you are unable to even establish a connection to any operator? Under operator state, it says not connected?

Another step to try would be the bootloader reset. This unique feature allows you to perform firmware update and reflash the device, which can potentially resolve the issue. Instructions on how to do so : RUT9xx Bootloader Upgrade - Teltonika Networks Wiki

Firmware : RUT955 Firmware Downloads - Teltonika Networks Wiki

Regards,
Arturas

Yes I have 2 other local SIMs that have no PIN and work in other devices (and used to work in the RUT955 before).
I have multiple antennas and good reception, but I never get connected.

I will try the bootloader reset as soon as I’m back.
