RUT955 can send and receiving data from power meter

Can the RUT955 receive data from a power meter with RS485 and modbus RTU capability, and can this data be sent to the desired IoT server/platform? The data we want to send includes voltage, current, and electrical power in a building. If possible, what is the communication flow from the power meter to the server through the RUT955? Thank you.

Hello,

Modbus RTU Client can be configured on the RUT955 to poll data from the Modbus RTU server (power meter). Modbus Serial Client configuration can be found here:

Afterward, data to server service needs to be configured to forward the data to the IoT platform of your choice. Configuration for Data to Server can be found here:

Let me know if any more help is needed!

Best regards,

Once it’s configured, how can we output numerical data using the RS485 port to the server we are using? If we need a supporting application, what application can display data from the power meter through Rut955?

Hello,

It is not possible to simultaneously use RS485 port for reading the Modbus data and sending it. However, we do have an Over IP mode, which can encapsulate the serial connection traffic into TCP packets and send them over the internet. If you’d like to connect this to this serial port remotely, you will need either a third party application like HW VSP3 or another Teltonika device with RS485 port and connect it directly to the serial port on the PC.
We have configuration examples available for both methods:

Best regards,

is there a tutorial to get data like this?
