RUT955 Bricked Unable To Use The Device

Hi,

I hope someone can assist…

I did a factory reset on my RUT955, now when I plug in the power, all the lights simply stay on (All LAN and Mobile signal LEDs), it stays like this indefinitely, if however I plug a LAN cable into one of the LAN ports and connect my laptop, immediately all the LEDs start flashing (this is also indefinitely), I am able to reach the firmware update page (http://192.168.1.1) as well as the Bootloader update page (http://192.168.1.1/uboot,html)… I can access these without having to use the reset button on the unit… however I’m not able to get to the log in / management area… I did a firmware update using RUT9_R_00.07.06_WEBUI.bin, the update never completes with the device restarting (I have tried leaving it over night) … it simply goes to the same static LED state again, If I restart the device it just follows the same process as described above. I have tried this multiple times.

After looking online, I see the issue might be related to the bootloader, I am unable to find this file on any of your sites, if anyone could point me in the right direction where to find this I would really appreciate it.

Regards

Werner

Hello,

Thanks for reaching us.

You should have to access the (http://192.168.1.1/index.html) instead of (http://192.168.1.1/uboot,html) then you can upgrade to the latest firmware

  • Unplug all cables from the router
  • Plug in one Ethernet cable for your computer into any LAN port (and set a static IP in laptop for example 192.168.1.2)
  • Press and hold the reset button
  • While holding the reset button, plug the power cable into the router. After you plug in the power cable, continue holding the button for another 4-8 seconds
  • Release the reset button

The ethernet LEDs should start blinking simultaneously

Once it starts blinking, go to 192.168.1.1/index.html and upgrade to the newest 7.06 firmware, which you may acquire from the link below.
https://wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/RUT955_Firmware_Downloads

Then it should work properly now and be able to upgrade to the latest version.

Thanks

Hi,

Many thanks for your suggestion, I have followed the procedure as per your reply, everything runs as it should until I do the latestest firmware (7.06)… it uploads the firmware and the mobile signal LEDs scroll to the right for a couple of seconds, and the scroll to the left for a couple more seconds… once this is completed, it then returns to all LEDs flashing simultaneously… and stays like this indefinitely… if I try go to http://192.168.1.1 I get to the upload firmware page again.

I suspect it’s the bootloader thats the issue, as everything runs, including the update, but then gets stuck once it completes the upgrade, or if I try restart the unit.

I tried visiting the bootloader link in your replay, but there is nothing there about downloading the bootloader file ?

Once again many thanks for your response, any additional information would really be appreciated.

If need be I can send you a video of the process.

Hello,

In that scenario, I believe the router may be have an issue, and you may proceed with RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization): If standard recovery methods are ineffective, the device may need to be sent for warranty repair.

To do so, please contact one of our sales managers to begin the RMA process.

Thanks

Hi,

Thanks for your response, is it possible to try upload the bootloader file ? If you could let me know where I could find it, I could give that a try, if that does not work, I will contact a sales manager.

Many thanks for your assistance so far.

Werner

Hello,

Unfortunately, there is no bootloader file; you must do it manually, as described in the link below:

Thanks
