Rut950 as AP in Dante networks

Hello,

can someone suggest settings for a Rut950 in following environment:

I want to connect the Rut950 via Lan to a network. That network can be unknown - so I would like the lan port(s) to be on auto-ip configuration. That means, if there is a DHCP on the network, the Rut950 should receive a DHCP adress.

If there is no DHCP, it should just set an IP in the auto-ip range. (Same behavior as a Win computer, when set to obtain IP adress automatically.)

The Rut950 should open a Wifi network and pass DHCP information from received on the LAN port.

Also I want to enable IGMP Snooping for one LAN port, so it filters out broadcast traffic for that port to not flood the Wifi when connected to a dante network.

Is that possible?

Good afternoon,

In the first instance, I wanted to advise installing newest firmware for this procedure.

Firstly, in WEBUI Network → Lan press edit the interface, and enable DHCP.

Then go to Network → Wireless, and setup the Wifi instance. In Edit settings, ensure the option is chosen as “Access point”

From your description, it seems like you will need to configure DHCP relay, DHCP servers and clients are on different network segments or subnets. Normally, DHCP messages are broadcast and routers do not forward broadcast packets between subnets, so DHCP requests from clients won’t reach a server on another subnet by default. In regards to IGMP snooping, this functionality was added to be downloaded in Package manager. If you go to System → Package manager, you can download the IGMP packet. After you do, you can find it in Network, IGMP proxy. You can then enable the IGMP proxy for Lan interface.

Regards,

Arturas

Hello Arturas,

thank you very much for your reply! I already updated to most recent firmware two days ago. I will try your suggested configurations and I am also going to try the additional IGMP package.

Best regards

Chris
