We bought 2 Teltonika RUT360. We upgraded to latest firmware and latest modem firmware… and reboot them after. Antennas are well screwed.
The router connect very fast to Telekom LTE network … signal ~ -60db (4/5 power lines). We are very close to GSM Telekom tower, outside of the city.
We connected the laptop to router via LAN cable and ran the speed test on first router… then on second router (site: speedtest.net) … download varies between 16Mbps to 28Mbps… suspiciously low
We took the sim card and put into Samsung S20 and did hot spot and connect the laptop via wireless … speed test results 50Mbps to 70Mbps
We took an ordinary 4G Telekom Router (internal antenna) and connect the laptop via lan cable … same output 45Mbps - 60Mbps .
As conclusion the Teltonika RUT360 routers (that was supposed to go up to 300Mbps) are running ordinary compared to other devices .
Please provide a solution on this. Also, we would like to open a ticket on this because these routers are very expensive.
Below you can find some snapshots on config and gsm status… keep in mind that both routers are working in the same way… issue with download speed.
The modem built into the RUT360 usually connects to a cell which can provide the best network stability, and not necessarily the best speed. Without knowing what bands are available, it’s hard to say where the issue could be, but here are a few suggestions on how to improve network performance:
Blacklist the low frequency bands. In EMEA region, these bands are usually B20, B28, and B8. More information about band locking can be found here: Band Lock - Teltonika Networks Wiki
Select all of the bands, except the aforementioned ones.
Enable software offloading. Navigate to Network → Firewall → General Settings, and enable the Software Flow Offloading option. This will allow some traffic to go straight through the CPU, which could increase the performance;
Make sure you are using the same test servers for all tests, as different speed test servers could offer different performance levels;
The speed difference between the Galaxy S20 could be explained by the different modem categories, but if the ISP provided modem also uses Cat 6 modem or lower, then this issue is defiantly worth investigating.
I will also ask you to attach a screenshot of the mobile status page (Status → Network → Mobile). Make sure to blur the IMSI, IMEI and ICCID values.
