RUT301 as remote access gateway (part of another LAN subnet)

Hello everyone,

is there any way to make a RUT301 be part of a LAN network to use it as a kind of remote access gateway?

So on the WAN side there is internet for connection to RMS and a VPN hub. But on the LAN side there is a LAN network provided by another gateway?

We have a customer that wants our robot to be part of his exsiting machine-LAN. We shall also provide remote support. In terms of my networking knowledge, I told him that he needs to set up a static route on his gateway for our VPN traffic. However, he seems reluctant to do so. VPN traffic breaks as soon as we set the gateway to 10.7.37.254.
The customer wants to access the robot from an unknown PC behind the gateway (10.7.37.254).

So I have one subnet with two different gateways…

Anyone here having a idea how (or even if) this could work? How to integrate the customer gateway in this network?

Greetings, @micit ,

Thank you for reaching out,

The main issue is that two gateways cannot be in the same subnet, however, if it is possible to separate those two gateways into two different subnets.

Could you please clarify the following:

  • Is it necessary to keep 2 gateways in your setup?
  • Is there a way to connect customer gateway to the switch that is connected to the robot?
  • Model of the client gateway
  • How the PC in another unknown customer network reaches the customer gateway?

This information will help us investigate further and assist you with the setup.

Looking forward to your reply.

Warm regards,
V.

I finally convinced the customer that this setup was unsuitable.

We will set up a different LAN on the RUT301, to which the customer will connect directly.

Thank you for your efforts!
