RUT260 7.18.1 firmware

Hello,

I have a new RUT260 device, and I have tested 7.18.1 and 7.18 firmware versions with same result: it connects to Internet and disconnect about 10 seconds later.

I have also tested 7.17.5 version and it works.

I don’t know if that the issue with 7.18 firmware is still making problems with 7.18.1.

Thank you.

Hello,

Could you please let me know how often this issue occurs?

What internet source(s) does your device use?
If it’s using Mobile WAN, please share screenshots of the Status → Network → Mobile page in the WebUI — both when the internet is connected and when it disconnects.

You can also check for any related logs under System → Maintenance → Events Log.
For more detailed logs, connect to the router via CLI/SSH (Command Line Interfaces - Teltonika Networks Wiki) and execute the following command: logread -f

Best regards,

Hello,

I installed the version 7.18, and it happened all the time. Next day I saw that the version was withdrawn, and I waited for next version. When 7.18.1 appeared, I installed it and I had the router during several hours trying to connecto to Internet without success. Then I put 7.17.5 and it worked from the first time. Try again 7.18.1, it doesn’t work. Try again 7.17.5, it works.

I am already using the device with 7.17.5, so I cannot make your screenshots, unfortunately.

Yes, all my trials have been using Mobile WAN. In the status-network-mobile you could see that it got connected, ip address, time connected start increasing…. and counting about 10 seconds it got disconnected again.
I also saw logs, not understanding much, but it was iterative.

It is already working with 7.17.5, I just wrote you if it is useful to you.

Best regards,

If I understand correctly, once the internet connects, it immediately disconnects, reconnects after about 10 seconds, and then the loop repeats — is that correct?

Could you please provide screenshots of the Status → Network → Mobile page in the WebUI, both when the internet is connected and when it disconnects?

Best regards,

The sequence is the following one:

It is disconnected at the beginning

It says connected: (at status-network mobile, box named “Connection”, between SIM card and Data transmission boxes)

  • Correct Operator
  • Operator state is “Registered, home”
  • Data connection state in green “Connected
  • Connection state “Setup complete”
  • Network type “4G(LTE); VoLTE”
  • IP address: After 1-2 seconds, it appears an IP address
  • Uptime: Starts counting from 0s

More or less when it gets to 10 seconds the “uptime”, it gets disconnected and starts over again

I am afraid I cannot provide you an screenshot: the device is online already and I cannot change its firmware.

Hope that it helps

Best regards

Hello,

Could you please clarify what you mean by:

I’ll also need screenshots to check the mobile signal strength so we can continue troubleshooting the issue.

For example:

Best regards,

With “the device is online already” I mean that it is being used and I cannot take it away now.

I will do my best to make new trials and provide you the screenshots, but I cannot promise.

If you cannot reproduce the problem, I assume that it was not a major issue: may be I had an only-once problem.

Best regards

Hello,

Thank you for the clarification. I will be waiting for the screenshots once they become available.

Here you have a video of the issue.

I hope that it helps

Hello,

Could you kindly let me know the modem firmware of your device? You can find it in System → Firmware → Update firmware.

Also, please try setting the APN manually in Network → WAN → edit mob1a1s1 interface and check if that changes anything. Make sure the PDP type on the same settings page is correct — for example, if your SIM card supports only IPv4, change it from IPv4/IPv6 to IPv4 only.

Let me know how it goes!

Best regards,

Hello,

The internal modem firmware version is SLM828G_EU06_1.57.2_EQ100. If I am correct, RutOS version does not modify firmware version, am I?

And you are right: with a manual APN it works.

Surprisingly, it works only using the “manual” APN. It does not work if you enter the APN in the APN list as a valid one. In each iteration you see that it tries a new APN, including the good one, but it does not work. For me, it is important to be able to work with any card without user interaction to manually set APN. It works automatically using 17.5 version.

Best regards,

Hello,

The 7.17.5 firmware is the latest stable version, so I recommend using it instead of the newest firmware.

Additionally, we would like to review a troubleshoot file from your device when the APN is set to auto on 7.18.1. Since the file contains sensitive information, I have sent you a form to the email address you registered on the community forum. Once you fill it out, I will contact you privately.
Please use ticket ID “15951” when completing the form.

Best regards,

Hello,

I will attach to the latest stable version in that case.

I cannot generate a troubleshoot file now with that version, we are using the device.

However, I have identified that failover configuration might impact on this. Talking with a friend, differente scenario, it seems that if you deactivate failover it might solve this issue.

From my side we can consider this successfully solved: attach to latest stable firmware.

Best regards
