RUT240 slow LTE speed in Croatia

Hello,

I am using a RUT240 with FW: RUT2XX_R_00.01.14.7
In croatia I get about 2Mbit of download and 5 Mbit upload speed, in austria speed is normal.

Does anybody knows about from RUT240 unsupported frequence band that croatia is using?
A mobile phone in the same cellular network reaches about 150Mbit.

Any idea?

Thanks

Stefan

Hello,

The frequency bands that the device supports are determined by its product code. You can locate the product codes and their corresponding supported frequency bands on the product page under the ‘ordering’ tab. You’ll find this information here.

To start with, I recommend updating the device’s firmware, as the current version you have is quite outdated. You can download the latest RUT240 firmware from here.

Next, ensure that both antennas are properly connected. After the firmware update, consider enabling ‘software flow offloading’ in the Network → Firewall settings.

As you have mentioned, the frequency band that the device is connected may not be provide the best speeds. Thus, you can try locking to other bands in Network → Mobile → General. The appropriate band selection will depend on your specific environment.

Regarding the differences in speed between the RUT240 and a smartphone, these variations likely stem from technological disparities. More modern smartphones tend to offer better speeds compared to the RUT240, which is equipped with an LTE CAT4 modem (newest phones support LTE CAT 20+). Additional insights on speed differences can be found here.

Kind Regards,

Hello Stefan,

Thank you for providing detailed information. I would like to clarify the information. Did you use the same card in Austria? What was exact your speed? Because you said your speed was normal.

Prior to proceeding, it is necessary to update the firmware version. Presently, the most recent RutOS version stands at RUTX_R_00.07.04.5. To execute the firmware update on your device, kindly access the device’s WebUI, navigate to the “System” → “Firmware” → “Update Firmware”. I would like to mention that the design of the webUI will change after the update

Additionally, comprehensive information regarding the supported frequencies for the RUT240 can be located at the following link: RUT240 supported Frequency The RUT240 is compatible with the frequency band utilized in Croatia.

If the firmware update has not solved the problem, follow the next steps. You possess the capability to monitor the current network type and evaluate the strength of the internet signal. This functionality can play a pivotal role in identifying a more accurate issue. To achieve this, please navigate to the web-based user interface (webUI) of your device. From there, access the “Status” section, followed by the “Network” option, and then select “Mobile.” Within this segment, you will be able to gauge both the signal strength and the active network type.

Based on the information you provided, the RUT240 router’s mobile module is capable of achieving the following speeds based on the network type

**4G** (LTE) - Category 4: Up to 150 Mbps
**3G**: Up to 42 Mbps
**2G:** Up to 236.8 kbps

If you require any further assistance or clarification during this process, please do not hesitate to reach out. We are committed to ensuring a seamless experience for you.

Best regards,
